What is Meditation?
Let’s hear from one of the master Ishwar Puri, as he describe what meditation actually is

Meditation is the art of withdrawing our attention from experience to the experiencer. It is as simple as that. The experiencer should be aware of one’s own self to discover one’s self — and that is meditation.
Withdrawing our Attention and Realization
When we withdraw attention from the experience of this world, we enter into our body and we confine ourselves to what we think is ourself — the body. Then we further withdraw attention from these parts of the body — which are an extremity of where we are thinking, knowing, realizing, and experiencing consciousness. As attention is brought to the eye center, the extremities of the body leave our consciousness and we become segregated from the entire body. We become unconscious of the body. The ability to concentrate attention also means the ability to withdraw attention. When we can concentrate our attention upon one thing, we automatically withdraw it from other things. Today, our attention is scattered, so we have a scattered experience of the world around us. When we withdraw our attention to the point from where we are experiencing, then the withdrawal itself gives us a heightened experience of ourselves and takes away the experience of that from which we are withdrawing. When the attention is withdrawn from this world and the body to the point we are conscious from, behind the eyes, our senses become more acute. We lose the consciousness of the body, yet we realize that we can see more and hear more at this point. This capacity to have experience with the senses alone and with out the body increases rather than decreases . For the first time, we realize what we are doing rather than limiting experience to the body. We had placed those limits upon ourselves.
–Ishwar Puri
I get so many thoughts during meditation.

I often hear many meditators saying that, when ever they sit for meditation, their mind is scattered of thoughts and cannot sit quiet or concentrate, they question themselves whether they are really doing meditation or not. For this, Arcturians provided a great insight
When you are sitting quietly and paying attention to your breath, that is when you are at your most powerful. That is when you are the most connected, the most aligned, and the most aware. Many individuals believe that if they are thinking during meditation, then they are not doing it right, and it somehow doesn’t count. Many people give up on meditation because they believe they are not good at it, and therefore have no business doing it.
But thinking during your meditation time can also bring you great insights. You can become aware of what is important to you. You can determine your vibration by paying attention to your thoughts, and you certainly can become more aware of your emotions by first noticing your thoughts. So let go of any sense of perfectionism you have when it comes to meditation, and instead focus on the benefits.
When you are in a state of meditation, you are rejuvenating yourself, you are accessing more of the Source Energy that you truly are, and you are in a state of receiving. When you meditate, you are not technically doing anything, but you are accomplishing so much. It is in your non-action that you allow everything that you have already done to take effect.

- Focused Meditation – mantra, sound, pleasant thought.

- Other types : walking in nature, playing instruments, painting etc…
How do you meditate.
I generally use a combination of technique (as described above) during my meditation and it depends upon each individuals, what they are tuned to, some needs to be silent, and for some, they need music or guided meditation. so I would recommend to try everything and see what works for you best.
Basic Technique
- Facing North, sit in padmasana Or sit comfortably in a chair.
- Pray to Creator / Source / All that is / I am (eg : I pray to calm my mind and shower your blessings and assist me in performing meditation, etc..)
- Mention specific request (it’s up to you whether you want to mention or skip this step)
- Take a few deep breaths.
- Gently close your eyes, look straight, relax your legs and hands, relax your neck, shoulders and facial muscles.
- Visualize a white bright light is entering from top of your head crown chakra and filling all part of your body and that light is expanding outside your body, protecting you completely.
- Now focus your mind on the ingoing and the outgoing breath through the nostrils. (when you focus on your breath, you are bringing your attention to the Now moment)
- After sometime you will notice that your focus on breath is withdrawn and your mind is in stillness.
- Meditate for at least 20 mins daily.

Free flow imagination
The technique I am sharing with you is really your inherent ability. If you can imagine it, it exists. Somewhere out there in the vastness of the universe, it exists. Once you let go of your 3rd dimensional beliefs of reality only existing within what you see, hear, and touch on this plane, then you begin to open yourself up to exploring your multi-dimensional self of 5D and beyond.
You also do NOT have to be a seasoned meditator to use this form of meditation. In fact, I’ve held group meditations with people who are complete newbies to meditation. While using this form for the first time they had MAJOR breakthroughs of insight, visions and messages from their higher self. To witness the expansion of people’s abilities beyond what they believed they were capable of is inspirational. We’re all capable of so much more than we allow ourselves to believe.
Using Free Flow Imagination you must be prepared to drop all judgments of what you will be shown in your mind. Judgments will only cut you off from the 5D energy of imagination. Instead, allow yourself to follow the visions of your imagination and enjoy the exploration. Have fun. Allow yourself to be immersed in the wonderment of your imagination the way you used to as a child.
- Find a quiet place to sit where you won’t be distracted. Ground your energy by taking some deep breaths until you feel more centered and relaxed.
- I often use music to assist my energy into a higher frequency. You don’t need to use music but I often find this helps.
- Ask to be surrounded in white light. When you begin to open your energy up it’s important to bring in your protection whether you believe in needing it or not.
- Then let go of what you think you should see. Allow the visions to be shown to you. The first thing you see, follow it. Let the story unfold. It may play out like a movie in your mind. It may feel like a dream. Explore. Have fun. Enjoy the expansion beyond the limited idea of reality into the limitless space of your imagination.
- Observe without any judgment. Judging what you see or feel will kill your flow. Doubt has a way of interfering with all of our successes including in our meditation. Don’t let the ego come in and tell you what’s what. The ego will always try to keep your thoughts contracted. It’s easier to control you when your thoughts are smaller and limited. This is about expansion so the ego will do everything to get in your way. Explore openly and judge later if you really can’t let go of the judgment.
- Pay attention to any sensations, sounds, and visuals that arise. If you find yourself questioning a vision that seems to be ‘way out there’ in the realm of possibility…follow it. Let it play out and show you what could be. This is a place where there are no boundaries. There are no limits. So don’t feel the need to put any in place.
- Once you’re done, document everything you’ve seen, heard, or felt. Then research it if you don’t know what it means. If certain animals, flowers, plants, colors, numbers, etc came to you, research their spiritual meaning. There are messages in everything that is being communicated to you.
I’ve had visions where I’m watching myself explore crystal caves deep below the earth and as I am “witnessing” myself I’ve seen my entire face and body shift and transform into a completely different person (like that Michael Jackson video). Yes, this can seem outrageously weird, but it’s also incredibly powerful because you may be shown a past life embodiment.
This is what happens when you drop all of your limits of reality and allow your multi-dimensional self to come forward through the exploration of your imagination.

Guided Meditation
Guided meditation is a process by which one or more participants meditate in response to the guidance provided by a trained practitioner or teacher, either in person or via a written text, sound recording, video, or audiovisual media comprising music or verbal instruction, or a combination of both.
I’ve few guided meditation video links on this site Living Librarian for reference, you can check it out Living Librarian : Guided Meditation link
Mantra Meditation
This is a powerful mantra music that I often use sometimes during my meditation, so check it out, if it works for you.
Binaural Beats
Another technique using Binaural Beats. It is recommended to use your headphone
Check this next video, as Suzanne Lie explains about each brain waves and how it effect during our dream time or during meditation or when you are awake.
While meditating or in general, how our Brain waves moves.
You are masters, each and every one of you, and in a meditative state, if you allow yourselves to, you can feel how masterful and powerful you are. You can feel yourself expanding, becoming, and accessing. It is a gift, and the more you receive the gift of meditation, the more you will receive from the universe.
