THE THREE WISE MONKEYS ~ Randall Monk

Toshogu is a large, spectacular shrine complex built in the early 1600s. I did not realize how old the wise monkey philosophy was. I was surprised to see the speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil monkeys carved on the wall of a stable within the shrine complex. As a teenager, I had a small knickknack of the three monkeys in my bedroom. Here is my interpretation of the three wise monkeys.

10. UNIVERSAL LAWS : THE LAW OF POLARITY ~ Randall Monk

Everything has an opposite. We have day and night, hot and cold, light and dark, good and bad, white and black. These are all different degrees (extremes) of the same thing. Hot and cold may appear to be opposite; however, they are just different degrees of the same thing – temperature. Practical Practices to Align with the Law of Polarity Since everything has an opposite consider this: every misfortune has a silver lining! Reminding yourself of this will help you get through challenging times by focusing on the silver lining.

9. UNIVERSAL LAWS : The Law Of Balance ~ Randall Monk

We live in a reality of duality meaning, we live in a world of opposites:  positive and negative, yin and yang, masculine and feminine. The law of gender is found throughout creation. For example, it’s in human beings, plants, and magnetic poles. This could also be considered The Law Of Opposites: love & hate, white & black, night & day, hot & cold. Hermetic teachings tell us that these are different degrees of the same thing. For example, hot and cold are merely different degrees of temperature.

8. UNIVERSAL LAWS : The Law Of Relativity ~ Randall Monk

The law of relativity asserts that everything is neutral, everything is relative, and that it is us who attach meaning and emotions to the experience. Everything is neutral and we determine our reaction or non-reaction in each situation; it’s a choice we make. We can choose to change our typical reaction to an event. When someone “pushes our buttons,” we have a choice of how we will react – or if we’ll react at all. Nobody makes us sad, nobody makes us angry, nobody hurts us with what they say. Our reaction is determined by a the choice we make, which can be conscious or unconscious, but it’s still a choice. We can choose to be sad or not, we can choose to be angry or not, we can choose to be hurt by what someone says or not, it’s entirely up to us.

The Practice Of Conscious Change ~ Randall Monk

Most of us prefer to stay in our comfort zone and resist trying something new or making a change.  Rather than take a calculated risk we would rather stay where we are because where we are is something we are familiar with.  In some cases, possibly many, our present circumstances are not beneficial and may even be painful.

7. UNIVERSAL LAWS : The Law Of Perpetual Energy Transmutation ~ Randall Monk

The law of perpetual energy transmutation tells us that everything, and I mean everything, is always changing; nothing is constant. Everything is in continual flux. Many of these changes are beyond our level of perception. What’s nice about being aware of this law is that it makes us more mindful that we can make positive changes in our life because everything is always changing, and that includes us. We can direct that change in our favor by employing our mind, feelings, and free will.

6. UNIVERSAL LAWS : The Law Of Attraction ~ Randall Monk

This is a law that most of us are familiar with or have at least heard of. The precept of The Law of Attraction is, like attracts like. Everything is composed of energy, and energy vibrates. Vibrations attract like vibrations – frequencies attract like frequencies. Consider a radio signal transmitted by a radio station: You cannot receive the signal of a radio station until your radio is tuned in to the frequency (which is the vibration) of that station.

5. UNIVERSAL LAWS : The Law Of Cause And Effect ~ Randall Monk

I think we’re all very familiar with this law, which is also known as karma. However, most of us don’t take it into account before we think, speak, or act, which would be like ignoring a posted speed sign while driving. The difference here is that we may not get caught speeding; however, the law of cause and effect ALWAYS comes into play. It most likely will not happen right away, so when we experience the effect we don’t usually put the two together.

4. UNIVERSAL LAWS : THE LAW OF INSPIRED ACTION ~ Randall Monk

This law tells us that we need to take action when we want to accomplish something while on the earth plane.  We are physical beings on a physical planet and action is required on our part in order to manifest Thoughts and visualization are actions, but in most cases physical action is required too. When we feel inspired to do something it’s imperative that we take physical action while the inspiration is still within us!

3. UNIVERSAL LAWS : The Law Of Correspondence ~ Randall Monk

You’ve probably heard the saying “As above so below.” Well, that is the law of correspondence in a nut shell. This law asserts that everything we say or think is reflected in our physical world, and that especially applies to what we say and think with feeling. This law is directly allied with The Law of Divine Oneness, as it is because of the Oneness that we have the correspondence.

2. UNIVERSAL LAWS : The Law Of Vibration ~ Randall Monk

At its core everything is pure energy, and everything vibrates; that includes the whole kit and caboodle (as they say), both animate and inanimate objects including, but not limited to, colors, sounds, words, etcetera. As above so below. The cosmos vibrates, the planets in our solar system vibrate, our thoughts vibrate, and we vibrate. Our individual energy signature (vibration) is established as a result of our thoughts, feelings, emotions and beliefs. And those will be a high vibration or a low vibration depending on how we feel in the moment.

1. UNIVERSAL LAWS : The Universal Law Of Oneness ~ Randall Monk

The main precept of this law is that everything is connected and everything is affected by everything else in existence and that includes you. You are affected by the energy of the universe and as an individual who is part of the universe – your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and actions have an effect on everything else to some degree.
