In some ancient cultures, such as the Mayans and the Egyptians, solar eclipses were seen as powerful omens that signaled a time of great change and transformation.

In Hindu mythology, eclipses were believed to be caused by the demon serpent Rahu trying to swallow the sun or the moon. Sounds a little like the Lyran-Draconian Wars, right? It was believed by many ancient people that during an eclipse, the natural order of the universe was disrupted and that it was important to perform rituals and prayers to ward off evil and ensure the continuation of life.

In many modern spiritual traditions, solar eclipses are seen as opportunities for introspection, reflection, and transformation. They are often associated with themes of endings, beginnings, and rebirth, especially with this recent solar eclipse being in the sign of Aries, which exemplifies this “fresh new start” energy.

But how do eclipses affect us energetically? A solar eclipse is a great time to consciously set clear intentions for your future.

Keep in mind that effects of this intense energy can be felt for weeks or even months preceding it, and for at least 6 months after the actual date.

Solar eclipse are seen to be a positive cosmic influence, but they can also be unsettling, destabilizing and challenging. These eclipses are said to pretty much cause chaos, much like the ancient people believed. This is because during a solar eclipse, the moon’s very yin-based emotional, instinctual and intuitive qualities of the subconscious mind overrides the sun’s yang qualities, which are more rational, logical and represents the conscious mind.

During a solar eclipse, the pattern for us energetically is that we will first have an intense power outage that knocks us right out, which is then followed by a massive power surge. In other words we’ll go through a cycle of great intensity that leads to amplified light and growth. Expect to experience heightened gut feelings and amplified intuition during any solar eclipse.

The sun is a huge ball of light, life force energy, and represents higher consciousness. So, during an eclipse, be prepared to go through a rather intense period and do the spiritual work. That is the gift of an eclipse. They are an opportunity for you to heal and clear all that old energetic debris lodged in your system. They wipe your slate clean so that you can begin a new path feeling lighter, brighter and clearer.

My advice to you is to not see loss or closure as a bad thing, as it will represent a transformation that you might not entirely see the point of yet, but that will soon be revealed at a later date. It all depends on current energies, your own personal self growth and where you are on your life path.

With Gratitude,

Debbie Solaris

The spiritual meaning of a solar eclipse varies across different cultures and belief systems.
